I’ve been invited to introduce our club during this months Monthly South East Valley NAMI Board Meeting. I’ll be telling them about our club and our goals, and we will be discussing ways in which they can help us and offer their services to us to forward our mission. If there’s anything you think you’d like to see us offer, or discuss, or speakers on particular topics you would like to hear, please let me know. The meeting is tonight at 6:30pm
I’ll post here later with updates!
Our theme this Year is Respect is Free.
The conference hopes to attract individuals who tend to be under-represented in our community including LGBTQ, African Americans, Latinos, American Indians, Youth and their parents, Non-19 SMIs, GMHSA population. The conference will have sessions for persons who receive services as well as for peers and family members who serve this
population. We hope to offer sessions that will advance the voice of Peers and Family members to improve services for them and in the system more broadly.
There are many exciting changes coming in behavioral health in the near future. We hope that this conference will give participants a glimpse of things to come and how they can participate in these changes.

Today we received a DVD in the mail courtesy of Dr. Viera and the World Emotional Literacy League entitled:
Emotional Intelligence: Taking Control of Your Life
From the literature it looks like it’s 3 parts, one aimed towards Junior High, one to High School and one for all student ages. Here’s what it says it’s about, “This text introduces emotional intelligence training in the educational process so that everyone can learn the necessary skills to optimize their life experience on the emotional level.”
I have no idea what that means…
I have yet to watch it, but if that sounds interesting to anyone, hit me up.
